Accountability

Many people have over the years started Youtube channels to chronicle their weight loss. Past of the reason for doing so is accountability. I believe High Carb Hannah mentioned that as part of her motivation.

I’ve been in dire need of personal accountability.

I wish I had a detailed weight and physical history to post and refer to, but I avoided weighing every day and instead relied on doctor office visits and insurance physicals, which I dreaded until I lost all my weight on a very low carb. This is called being in denial of fat-assery. I marked my weight loss by gradually moving into smaller sized clothes. I kept them in the closet and tried on smaller sizes weekly. A scale would have been far better. I have a fancy one now that gives me my BMI.

Once I lost my 65+ pounds on low carb, I did go see my internist, and he was stunned. He said, “I see hundreds of people a year and I literally never see this kind of change even though I tell people to lose weight 20 times a day.”

And how many people dread seeing the doctor because of the talk about needing to lose weight? Uh, thanks doc, that thought hadn’t occurred to me…

The internist was, by the way, flummoxed by the high resting pulse rate, blood pressure, anxiety, lack of sleep, and huge dark circles around my eyes that accompanied my weight loss. More on that some other time.

Starting in 2017 I have added accountability. This blog. And a scale I am going to use daily. I will post the numbers on an ongoing basis here.

I was 230.2 on 1/5/2017. I was 227.2 this morning.
